This course aims to enhance up-to-date knowledge of occupational therapy in geriatrics through research and applied theory. The course will deal with bio-psycho-social aspects of aging and their impact on occupational participation. The biological impact of aging such as decreased cognition, psychological aspects such as experiencing loss, and social aspects including stigmas will be addressed. We will study the channels of change (person, environment, occupation) to improve participation. Up-to-date evidence-based practice will be presented addressing
health management and coping with functional challenges from a range of
perspectives.
